At Clarity Eyecare, we are committed to serving our patients and giving back to our community. We have been so blessed to be a part of the central Ohio community and we have made it one of our missions to spread the love both locally and worldwide. Did you know that at Ackerson Eyecare Center we donate 5% of our net profits back to charity? This is a highlight of some of the causes and organizations that we support.
Hilliard Education Foundation – We founded a scholarship back in 2017, and each year we award a $1000 scholarship to a deserving student at each of the 3 high schools.
Free refraction and glasses for Hilliard City School students without insurance or a government plan – We saw a need in our local community for the children that have slipped through the cracks with their vision. If a student fails the school screening, and the parents don’t have insurance, we offer a free refraction and pair of glasses. 80% of what we learn is through vision, and we believe that every student should have the opportunity to see clearly at school.
Kateswell – This is a special cause that was inspired by Dr. Katie Vanderhorst’s battle with lymphoma in 2015. She is now cancer free and she and her husband, Brian, have created this non-profit organization, Kateswell, in order to improve cancer outcomes in central Ohio. Ackerson Eyecare is one of the first sponsors of this organization and we can’t wait to see how many lives will be touched!
Pelotonia – One goal. To end cancer. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. We sponsor a few riders each year in order to be a part of this unstoppable team.
Lions Club - This is the largest service organization in the world, and one of their missions is to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired. If you have old glasses that you would like to donate, you can drop them off at our office and they will be picked up by the Lions Club. They are then taken to the OSU College of Optometry where they are sorted based on their prescription and used on service missions by SVOSH (Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). Your gently used glasses can provide life-changing vision to someone in need!
Sole Hope – The mission of Sole Hope is to bring hope to the population of Uganda and prevent foot-related diseases, like jiggers, that much of the population is susceptible to since they walk around barefoot. Our staff had a wonderful team-building event in which we made patterns for shoes to be taken to Uganda.
Kingdom Home – Their mission is to end child sex slavery in Uganda through prevention. We sponsor a child each year so that they have a safe place to live, which lowers their risk of entering the sex trade. It is a place of hope where all of their needs are met and they can thrive.
